"There’s still an added weight on my chest although my sleep has improved," the actor stated while attending an event in Hong Kong’s area Tsim Sha Tsui, recalling how he had struggled with sleeplessness following Wong’s arrest, as reported by The Star.

He also emphasized the uncertainty surrounding Wong’s upcoming verdict, describing the wait for it as "painful" and confessing that he’s doing all he can to support his fiancée through this challenging period.

"Although we will do our best, court matters are unpredictable," the actor stated. "I’m also (praying) to the gods for help."

Hailing from mainland China, Wong was arrested in February for allegedly overstaying her tourist visa in Hong Kong. She now faces seven charges including overstaying her visa and making false statements to obtain an entry permit. Currently held in custody, she is set to have her case revisited on May 28.

"She’s [Wong’s] starting to feel better," Lee shared, adding that he still visits Wong everyday. "Things are better now."

In previous public statements, Lee confirmed that his plans to marry Wong remain intact, and he is willing to move to mainland China with Wong if she is deported as part of her sentence.

Lee first met Wong when he was 66 years old. They had planned to marry at the end of 2023, but the wedding was postponed due to the death of Wong’s father.

Despite allegations against Wong since the start of the year—including trading sexual favors for money and fraud, and doubts about her claimed affluent background and education, with some suggesting she fabricated these claims to attract support from wealthy individuals—Lee stands by her. He refutes any claims of her financial interest in him by noting that his assets are in his ex-wife’s name and that he has limited funds.

Lee is also recognized for his roles in "The Smiling, Proud Wanderer," "Journey to the West," and "Forensic Heroes."

He has three children from a previous marriage in the 1970s, all of whom are older than Wong.
