Hong Kong actor Lee Lung Kei's 37-year-younger fiancée detained for visa overstay

Oriental Daily disclosed that the arrest by the local authorities took place on Monday, with Wong set for interrogation at the Shatin Magistrates’ Courts come Tuesday.

A legal expert indicated that individuals found guilty of breaching Hong Kong’s residency regulations, such as overstaying their visa, typically face deportation. They may also encounter penalties including a two-year imprisonment and a fine amounting to HKD50,000 (approximately US$6,392).

Reports suggest Wong had moved to Hong Kong to reside with Lee.

Yahoo reports Lee, who is currently in Guangzhou, China, for work, was visibly distressed during an interview concerning his fiancée’s legal troubles. Committed to a filming schedule that prevented his immediate return to Hong Kong, Lee disclosed his efforts to engage a lawyer to address the situation.

Despite his absence, Lee expressed deep sorrow over Wong’s solitary struggle with the legal predicament.

"I will do everything I can to minimize her suffering," he affirmed.

Wong’s background has been shadowed by controversial claims, including allegations of offering sexual favors for financial gain and engaging in fraudulent activities. Additionally, doubts have been cast regarding her assertions of a privileged upbringing and an education from a prestigious U.S. institution, with some suggesting these to be fabrications aimed at securing financial support from affluent circles.

Lee has unwaveringly supported Wong through the turbulence.

The couple, who met when Lee was 66, had initially set sights on a wedding by the end of 2023. However, the plan was deferred following the demise of Wong’s father last year.

Lee, an illustrious figure in the acting domain, boasts a diverse portfolio with titles like "The Condor Heroes," "The Smiling, Proud Wanderer," "Journey to the West," and "Forensic Heroes."

His first marriage, dating back to the 1970s, blessed him with three children, all of whom are older than Wong.
