The Ministry of Public Security is searching for Dang Tat Thang, former chairman of property giant FLC and Bamboo Airways, to verify a Sacombank's report about signs of him committing crimes.

The Security Investigation Agency of the ministry announced on Wednesday that it was checking and verifying the report from Sacombank about signs that Thang had committed the crime of "abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the lawful rights and interests of organizations and/or citizens," Cong An Nhan Dan newspaper reported.

The ministry determined that Thang, 43, has not been present at his residence in Hanoi and his whereabouts remain unknown. The ministry thus has issued a decision to search for him.

The Security Investigation Agency has enlisted the help of the Office of the Police Investigation Agency, the Professional Records Department, and the Immigration Department.

In early April, the Facebook account "Thang Dang", believed to belong to Thang, published a post saying Sacombank chairman Duong Cong Minh had been prohibited from leaving the country for laundering money for Truong My Lan, chairwoman of property giant Van Thinh Phat, who was sentenced to death last month for fraud and embezzlement.

The Ministry of Public Security dismissed the rumor the same day.

Thang took up managerial roles at FLC in 2014, working as a deputy CEO in charge of project development investment.

He took over as chairman of FLC and its subsidiary Bamboo Airways in March 2022, replacing Trinh Van Quyet who was arrested for stock manipulation.

He asked to step down from the positions in July 2022, more than three months before joining conglomerate TNG Holdings as vice chairman and deputy CEO.
