Hong Kong’s on-screen sex symbol Suki Kwan returns to spotlight following divorce from 6-year-younger husband

According to Mp Weekly, the 58-year-old actress has been actively involved in various activities over the past six months, including TV appearances, talk shows, and engaging with fans on social media. Alongside her media presence, she has also ventured into the cosmetics business.

Kwan shared that she initially felt cautious and anxious in front of the camera. However, with encouragement from fans who still remembered her, she gradually regained her confidence.

She also disclosed that the divorce proceedings, which began in 2001, affected her mental health and led her to decline some acting roles. Now, she feels ready for a new beginning.

"Over the past decade, I was a homemaker, planting vegetables and flowers," she said. "Now, I’m starting to rebuild my career."

The actress had quietly married former Hong Kong actor Lee Wai Sheung, 52, who now works as a yoga instructor, in 2005 and subsequently stepped away from the entertainment industry.

Kwan revealed that it took a long time to make the decision to leave Lee, explaining that she "no longer feels happy."

"When two people are together, the purpose is to build happiness," she shared. "I’m not young, but that doesn’t mean I can’t pursue happiness or move forward. I need to follow a path that brings me joy."

Currently single, Kwan stated she is not dating but, if she were to meet someone new, hopes he would be responsible and unselfish. At home, she spends her time caring for her cats and brainstorming content ideas for her Douyin account.

A prominent figure in Hong Kong’s entertainment scene from 1980 to 2005, Kwan was celebrated for her roles in steamy scenes, earning her titles such as "Sexy Goddess" and "Hot Scene Queen" in the 1990s.

Her filmography includes notable works such as "Twist" with Simon Yam, "High Risk" with Jet Li and Jacky Cheung, "A True Mob Story" with Andy Lau and Gigi Leung, and "The Tricky Master" with Stephen Chow and Nick Cheung.

In 1996, she appeared in the martial arts film "Wong Fei Hung Series: The Headless General" alongside Vincent Zhao and Maggie Shiu, as well as other films like "Prince Charming," "Sausalito," and "The New Option," with her last screen appearance in 2005.
