Hong Kong media speculated that she might be sleeping outdoors due to a lack of financial support from her famous brother, according to The Star.
Chow Chung Ling clarified that the image was taken while she was resting during work in the park, not due to financial hardship.
She emphasized that her brother has been generous, having bought homes for his siblings, and that they are deeply grateful for his support.
The rumors started after Hong Kong media published photos of Chung Ling on a park bench, leading some to question whether Chow Yun Fat, with an estimated HK$5.6 billion (US$720 million) fortune, was financially neglecting his family. In response, Chung Ling expressed pride in her independence, stating, "I’m capable of working and don’t need to rely on anyone."
Many netizens found the rumors dubious, noting that, although her outfit was simple, she was seen carrying a high-end professional camera. The 77-year-old, known for her love of photography, has held several exhibitions in Hong Kong.
