According to their post, the incident unfolded while their daughter, nicknamed Te Te, was crawling on the floor and began to choke. Hsu, who was in the midst of feeding Te Te, panicked as the food was not solid and couldn't have caused the choking. In a response, Wang, 36, attempted the Heimlich maneuver, while Hsu, 42, tried to remove the obstruction with her fingers.
While Wang dialed for an ambulance, they continued trying to clear Te Te’s airway and fed her another mouthful of food in hopes of dislodging the pin. Miraculously, Te Te coughed up the safety pin along with some blood. After a series of medical tests at the hospital, she was thankfully given a clean bill of health.
Reflecting on the incident, Hsu and Wang, who tied the knot in November 2021, acknowledged their oversight in not noticing the safety pin on the floor, despite their usual meticulousness in maintaining a tidy home.
