Singapore’s Changi Airport is ranked the third cleanest airport in the world this year, according to British airport review and ranking site Skytrax.

It trails only Japan’s Haneda Airport and South Korea’s Incheon International Airport, Asia One reported, citing Skytrax’s World’s Cleanest Airports 2024 ranking list.

The rankings are based on survey data from airport customers between August 2023 and March 2024, with over 100 customer nationalities participating in the survey, according to Skytrax.

This year, Changi Airport is also voted the fifth most luxurious and the second-best airport in the world.

Changi Airport, famous for the world's tallest indoor waterfall, was voted the world’s best airport by Skytrax from 2013 to 2020 and again in 2023.

Last quarter, the facility handled 16.5 million passengers, up 0.5% from the first quarter of 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic, The Business Times reported.

Its top five passenger markets were Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, and China.

The airport also processed 475,000 tons of airfreight last quarter, a 14% increase from a year ago.

This was the first quarter to see year-on-year growth following seven straight quarters of decline, largely due to robust transshipment activities, particularly with China.
