Chinese actress Fan Bingbing dons Vietnamese designer dress at Cannes

Fan Bingbing attended a party held by Cannes media partner Brut on Thursday night in a dress in Phong's "CTP No.2" collection.

Inspired by the shape of butterflies, the dress was made from mesh and mica, with Swarovski beads and crystals attached by hand.

The process took over one month. According to Chung, Fan’s stylist contacted him after he released his collection. He adapted the design based on Fan’s measurements before sending the completed dress to China.

Fan, 42, was born in the province of Shandong, China. She started her career in the entertainment industry when she was 17, and is known for her achievements as an actress, model, TV producer and singer.

She appeared in Time Magazine’s list of 100 most influential people in 2017.

Fan has also recently worked with Vietnamese fashion designer Kye Nguyen.

Phong, 35, was born in Da Nang, Vietnam. After garnering attention at a few contests, he launched his own fashion brand in 2013.

Since 2014, he has stayed consistent with the message of empowering women throughout his collections. In addition to evening and cocktail dresses, he is famous for his top line of wedding dresses that are loved by many celebrities such as actresses Minh Hang and Nha Phuong, and singers Hari Won, and Dong Nhi.
