Lukian Wang, creator of the CookingBoBo YouTube channel with over 66,000 subscribers, uploaded a video on Nov. 4 of her visit to the restaurant.
She shared that she is a fan of comedian and video producer Nigel Ng, known as Uncle Roger, and loves fried rice.
Lukian described waiting around 40 minutes before being seated. When browsing the online menu, she was disappointed to find limited options, saying, "I did not expect more than half the menu to be already sold out."
After ordering, she waited an additional 21 minutes for her first item, a cup of hot lemon tea. She felt the drink didn't match its menu image, calling it "misleading advertisement".
Fifty minutes after sitting down, she still hadn’t received her plate of fried rice.
The dish arrived after an hour.
"Tears of joy. I was so hungry," she joked, adding, "So now you know if you see a queue outside Uncle Roger’s restaurant, it’s not because it’s popular, it’s because of the slow service."
Her video quickly went viral, amassing over 30,000 views as of Monday.
Some netizens commended her patience, noting that they would have left after 20 minutes.
Others speculated the restaurant may have been facing ingredient shortages or lack of staff.
In a comment on her post, Uncle Roger apologized for the long wait and assured her that the restaurant would work to improve its service.
Uncle Roger, 33, inaugurated his first dining establishment Fuiyoh in the capital of Kuala Lumpur in September.
He rose to global fame in 2020 with his comedic response to a BBC Food tutorial on preparing fried rice.
Through his character Uncle Roger, a stereotypical middle-aged Asian uncle known for critiquing people's cooking techniques, he often contrasts authentic Asian culinary methods with their Western adaptations in his videos.
He has attracted 9.85 million YouTube subscribers.
