How to make fried pumpkin sticks

Golden fried pumpkin sticks are fragrant with a sesame coating, slightly sweet, crunchy on the outside, and soft inside.

- Pumpkin: 300g

- Sticky rice flour: 300g

- White sesame seeds: 20g

- Condensed milk: 2 tablespoons (adjust to taste)

- Sugar: 30g

- Salt

- Cooking oil

Preparation steps:

- Prepare the pumpkin: Peel the pumpkin, wash it, and let it dry. Cut the pumpkin into small pieces and steam until soft. Mash the steamed pumpkin until smooth.

- Make the dough: Mix the mashed pumpkin with sugar, condensed milk, and a pinch of salt until the sugar dissolves. Add the sticky rice flour and mix well. Knead the pumpkin mixture until it is no longer sticky. Add water if the mixture is too dry, or more flour if it is too wet.


- Rest the dough: Cover the dough with a thin cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.

- Shape the dough: Divide the dough into small portions and shape them into sticks or flatten into slices.

- Coat with sesame: Roll the pumpkin sticks or slices in white sesame seeds.

- Fry the pumpkin sticks: Heat a pan over medium heat and add cooking oil. Test the oil temperature by placing a chopstick in the oil; if it bubbles, the oil is ready. Fry the pumpkin pieces for about 3-5 minutes on each side, until all sides are golden brown.

- Drain and serve: Place the fried pumpkin sticks on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with chili sauce.
