Star footballer's anticipated wedding prep nearly complete

The Thai Binh Province native and his bride-to-be, beauty pageant contestant Doan Hai My, who finished in the top 10 at Miss Vietnam 2020, plan to wed on Saturday.

After reserving a stadium in Hau’s old neighborhood as the event’s venue, Hau’s family started the setup process earlier this week. Everything is reportedly almost complete, with the sound and lighting systems fully installed. A backdrop and several large-size photos of the couple have also been installed decorating the entrance.

The event’s guest list is expected to include many hundreds of well-wishers, including large groups of Hau’s relatives, childhood neighbors and the couple’s close friends.

Many of Hau’s teammates from the national football squad will be absent from the event in order to continue intensive training for the second round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification.

Hau and My are scheduled to have another wedding party at a five-star hotel in Hanoi on Nov. 26.

Hau, 24, gained popularity after his excellent early-career performances made him a regular starter on the national football team. His stellar play helped Vietnam win the 2018 SEA Games gold medal.

He and My, 22, were introduced to each other through mutual connections. They began dating a few months after My competed in the 2020 Miss Vietnam contest.

The couple publicized their relationship in 2022. Hau has been seen traveling with My’s family on several trips, and My is often seen in the crowd at Hau’s football matches, supporting her beaux as he plays.

The couple registered their marriage in October, a month after Hau proposed.
