A video and photos of the wedding, which took place on June 18, went viral after the bride’s younger sister Mary Golez shared them online.
Golez told South China Morning Post that her sister, JM Tiongco, 26, and the groom, Abbie Caram, 31, wanted to recreate the wedding scene of Colin Khoo and Araminta Lee, which has been dubbed as one of the most unforgettable moments in the movie by fans.
The couple held the reception at the Supertree Grove of Gardens by the Bay, just like in the film.
In Golez’s TikTok video, a red carpet along with an art deco backdrop can be seen, allowing guests to pose for photos at the entrance. Guests then walk down a colorful floral-lined aisle to enter the venue, where they have a candlelight dinner, surrounded by glowing trees.
The couple also invited a live painter to capture the wedding on canvas.
Mary Golez said that about 150 guests flew in from Australia, the Philippines and the U.S. to attend the special event.
"Kevin Kwan's Crazy Rich Asians is our family's comfort movie. Aside from it, the colorful palette, concept, and flowers from the movie really inspired the bride to turn her dream wedding into reality in Singapore's Gardens by the Bay," Golez told Asia One.
Many TikTok users complimented the wedding on the video, which has garnered over 765,000 views.
"Dude, it’s not even ‘inspired’ anymore. It’s actually crazy rich," one user commented.
It’s reported that the wedding cost at least $250,000.
