A female Russian tourist who kicked an 8-month pregnant woman in Thailand after being asked to leave her shoes outside was fined 500 baht (US$13) and received a suspended 15-day jail sentence.

Immigration authorities are considering whether to revoke the visa of 41-year-old Alena Kupriyanova or not, the Bangkok Post reported.

Her visa is valid until May 22.

Kupriyanova claimed she was menstruating that day, which had affected her mood.

She had entered a store selling natural products on Monday, carrying shoes and a coffee cup, Khaosod English reported.

The pregnant woman, an employee of the store, explained to her in English that she was not allowed to wear shoes in the store or bring drinks in from outside. However, the tourist ignored the instructions, claiming her shoes were not dirty.

When the staff repeated her request, the tourist kicked her twice in the right leg and then walked away.

The assaulted woman then filed a report to local police and provided a picture of the foreign woman from the store's CCTV camera.
