New Zealand's millionaire real estate tycoons Laurence and Katrina Day have been left in distress after their two sons were banned from Thailand after brawling with police.

"It’s very, very concerning. The family is distraught. We’re praying for a good outcome," Laurence Day told the NZ Herald, adding that he was considering flying to Thailand to support his sons.

The arrests of two brothers Hamish Day, 36, and Oscar Day, 38, who allegedly attacked a police officer during their holiday in Phuket Island, have made headlines in recent days.

Immigration authorities banned the two brothers from ever returning to Thailand and their visas have been revoked, AP reported.

They have been charged with a series of offenses including robbery, causing physical harm to an on-duty officer, attempted bribery, and driving a motorcycle without a license.

The brothers were speeding on motorbikes before they stopped and shouted at a police officer who recorded their actions on his mobile phone, according to Bangkok Post.

They allegedly wrestled the officer to the ground and took his gun.

The weapon was fired, but nobody was shot.

Both brothers have denied all charges and police said on Monday they would ask the court for permission to deny their release on bail, according to AP.
