Japan's low-cost airline Peach Aviation is set to inaugurate a new direct route connecting Osaka with Singapore on Dec. 5, with one-way fares starting from US$125.

The airline will operate daily flights using Airbus 321LR single-aisle aircraft, marking the first time in 14 years that a Japanese airline has launched a direct route connecting the two cities, The Straits Times reported.

Peach Aviation began its first international medium-haul flight from Osaka to Bangkok in December 2022. Singapore will be its second destination.

Osaka, renowned for its street food and vibrant nightlife, was the top trending destination for travelers from Singapore, according to Skyscanner's Travel Trends 2024 report. The report also noted a 1,606% year-on-year increase in searches for flights from Singapore to Osaka.

In June, 3.14 million international travelers visited Japan, marking the highest number of monthly foreign visitors ever recorded, according to the Japan National Tourism Organization. Among them were approximately 300,000 Singaporean tourists who visited Japan during the period.
