A tour guide in Hong Kong was recently fired for threatening a group of tourists from mainland China who refused to shop while visiting stores.

Hong Kong's Travel Industry Authority announced last Friday it had revoked the tour guide's license after he "scolded and used abusive language toward the tourists during a tour in February," the South China Morning Post reported.

The tour guide admitted to his misconduct, acknowledging that his actions had damaged the reputation of the tourism industry.

The tourists had earlier filed a complaint with the authority, stating they were threatened by their tour guide during a package tour in Hong Kong, prompting relevant agencies to launch an investigation, as reported by RTHK.

Following the investigation, the authority found the guide unfit to continue working and decided to take disciplinary action against him.
