In her post on China's social media app Xiaohongshu late last month, the tourist described the food in Singapore as "expensive and bad-tasting."
She mentioned that pandan cake, a light, fluffy cake made with fresh aromatic pandan juice from whole leaves and cold-pressed coconut milk, was unique but did not taste good. She also criticized dishes at Song Fa Bak Kut Teh, a restaurant mainly serving Chinese cuisine, Asia One reported.

The tourist further expressed disappointment with dishes at Lau Pa Sat, an iconic hawker center in Singapore. Eminent Frog Porridge & Seafood, a restaurant awarded Michelin’s Bib Gourmand, also left her dissatisfied.
Some netizens agreed with her, saying it's challenging to find good food at affordable prices in Singapore, known as one of the world's most expensive cities.
However, many others criticized her "harsh words."
One netizen replied to her post, "I've tried everything you mentioned, and it’s all really good."
Another commented, "You’re really annoying. I’m glad you won’t return to Singapore."
Some users also recommended affordable places for her to try in Singapore.
Recently, Singapore was the only Southeast Asian city to be named among the world’s top 10 cities for food by readers of U.S. magazine Condé Nast Traveler.
