A female passenger and her companion were offloaded from a Singapore Airlines flight bound for Shanghai on Thursday after allegedly verbally and physically abusing the cabin crew onboard.

The incident occurred on flight SQ826 as it was preparing for takeoff at Changi Airport, causing a nearly two-hour delay, The Straits Times reported.

Passengers on board recounted the event on the Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu, claiming that a woman forcefully insisted on using the toilet while the plane was taxiing, AsiaOne reported.

She allegedly banged on the toilet door and verbally abused the crew, prompting the aircraft to return to the gate.

A video of the incident, shared on TikTok, captures the woman yelling in Mandarin as cabin crew members attempt to de-escalate the situation.

After assessing the disturbance, the pilots decided to return to the gate to remove the passenger and her companion, ensuring the safety of those on board, a Singapore Airlines spokesperson said.

The two were handed over to authorities at Changi Airport.

Singapore Airlines emphasized that the safety of its customers and staff is its top priority and apologized to passengers for the inconvenience.
