Truck driver covers up license plate to drive backwards on HCMC expressway

The driver on Wednesday said he was driving his truck on the expressway in the direction from Dong Nai to HCMC. As the truck missed an intersection between the expressway and National Highway 51 by about 200 m, the man stopped, used a sheet to cover his plate numbers, then drove it backwards to prevent being fined.

However, the entire action was filmed by surveillance cameras. The fine for covering up license plates and running backwards on an expressway was handed out by a traffic police patrol team on Wednesday.

Several drivers on expressways have been found to be covering up their plates using tapes and sheets before violating traffic rules in recent times. To combat this, the traffic police department at the Ministry of Public Security has been using surveillance cameras to verify violations, and such cases would be reported to patrol teams.
