At around 6 a.m. a 10-ton truck rear-ended a tow truck near the Tan Thoi Hiep overpass in District 12.
A car and another container truck in turn hit the tail of the 10-ton truck, with the smaller vehicle getting wedged between the trucks. It was severely damaged, and the driver and a passenger were injured and taken to hospital.
The accident caused traffic to back up for two kilometers, and the jam took two hours to clear. By 9 a.m. traffic police officers removed the vehicles involved in the crash.
The police said the two people only suffered slight injuries.
