Although no longer in production, the Huracán is one of Lamborghini’s most successful models, with more than 25,000 units sold worldwide between 2014 and 2024, The Sun reported. Prices for the Italian supercar reached up to US$348,773 depending on specifications, according to Car and Driver. The vehicle has a top speed of 325 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds.
The Huracán, however, had previously been recalled over safety concerns. In September 2024, Lamborghini recalled 39 Huracán Evo Spyder vehicles in the U.S. due to a crash protection bracket that may have been installed incorrectly at its Sant’Agata Bolognese factory. In November 2023, 7,805 Huracán vehicles built between July 2014 and October 2023 were recalled for violating U.S. federal safety standards, according to Carscoops.
A source close to the sub-delegate of the Spanish government in Zamora revealed the crash is being investigated as "a possible speeding incident," according to CNN, citing the UK's PA News Agency.
"At this moment in time it is impossible to say at exactly what speed the car was going but that is something the Civil Guard investigators will be able to detail at least approximately in their final report from things like the skid marks," a spokesperson for the Civil Guard, the law enforcement agency leading the investigation, told ABC News Australia.
