Luu Diem Quynh won Vietnam a bronze medal in the 75 kg women's boxing event at Asian Games Tuesday, after losing to Li Quan of host China in the semifinals.

Since there was no third-place playoff match, Quynh claimed bronze despite her defeat. This is Vietnam's first medal on Tuesday, the ninth day of the tournament and the fourth bronze medal of Vietnamese boxing in Asian Games history.

Vietnamese boxing is still on the quest to find the first gold and silver medal at Asian Games.

Quynh, 27, is the only Vietnamese boxer to win a medal at this year's event. Nguyen Van Duong, Bui Phuoc Tung and Ha Thi Linh were out early in their weight classes.

With Quynh's bronze, Vietnam now have one gold, three silver and 14 bronze medals, putting them at 18th on the overall standing of Asian Games this year.

As of 10 a.m. on Tuesday, hosts China led the medal tally with 150 golds, followed by Japan with 33 and South Korea with 31.

Thailand topped Southeast Asia with 10 gold medals, ranking seventh overall, followed by Indonesia with four and Singapore with three.
