The friendly match was held in Hoa Xuan Stadium as one of the activities to celebrate 35 years of diplomatic relations between Brazil and Vietnam.

The 20,000-seat stadium was half full, with last-minute tickets discounted to VND500,000 (US$20) in the black market.

Rivaldo (C) is the prominent member of the Brazilian squad, winning Ballon d'Or and named FIFA World Player of the Year in 1999.

His teammates include Kleberson, Giovanni, Edmilson, Paulo Sergio, Rivaldo, Ze Carlos, Igor, Renan, Wallace, Andrey, Vitor, Diogo, Caio, and Alexsandro.

Their coach is Dunga, who managed Brazil's national football team during 2006-2010 and 2014-2016, and was the captain of the 1994 World Cup winning team.

Vietnamese team have Huynh Duc who won Vietnamese Golden Ball three times in 1995, 1997, 2002, Hong Son who won the honor in 1998 and 2001, and Cong Vinh who won the Golden Ball in 2004, 2006, 2007 before claiming the AFF championship with Vietnam in 2008.
