Vietnam on Wednesday noon recorded 36 new local Covid-19 cases in Hanoi and six northern provinces.

Ten cases each were recorded in Hanoi and its neighbors Bac Giang and Bac Ninh, three in Hai Duong, and one each in Dien Bien, Thai Binh and Vinh Phuc.

The cases in Bac Giang have all made contact with coronavirus cases associated with the province's Quang Chau and Van Trung industrial parks which have been shut down as major coronavirus hotspots.

The cases in Bac Ninh and its neighbor Hanoi, including one in the capital's locked down K Hospital, have all had contact with coronavirus cases.

The three cases in Hai Duong have been detected inside existing quarantine zones. They are being treated at the Hai Duong Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

The cases in Thai Binh and Vinh Phuc also made contact with coronavirus cases.

In Dien Bien, the new patient is a 31-year-old woman whose transmission source is not known yet.

So far in the new wave, Vietnam has recorded 1,539 Covid-19 cases in 28 cities and provinces. Over 1.01 million people have been vaccinated against the disease.
