Two more Covid-19 patients die in Vietnam

Two more Covid-19 deaths Monday evening took Vietnam's death toll to 69.

The Ministry of Health has announced that two women, aged 86 and 67, with severe underlying medical conditions, died of pneumonia caused by Covid-19.

The 86-year-old woman from the northern province of Bac Giang died Sunday of septic shock, progressive respiratory failure, multi-organ failure, and pneumonia with heart failure.

On May 25, the patient tested positive for the novel coronavirus and was admitted to a field hospital for Covid-19 treatment in Bac Giang.

The 67-year-old woman, a HCMC resident, died Monday of septic shock, multiple organ failure and severe pneumonia complicated by progressive respiratory failure due to Covid-19.

She had comorbidities of hypertension, type 2 diabetes and cushing's syndrome. On June 15, the patient was tested for Covid-19 and transferred to the city's Cu Chi field hospital for treatment.

With the latest additions, Vietnam registered three deaths on Monday. The total number of fatalities recorded in latest outbreak increased to 34.

In the ongoing wave, Vietnam has recorded 10,078 community transmissions in 42 cities and provinces.
