A total of 70 electric shuttles are available for tourists visiting downtown Ho Chi Minh City starting Friday, with ticket prices between VND120,000-250,000 ($4.80-9.99).

The 8-seat shuttles, operated by the Saigon Public Transport company, run from 6 a.m. to midnight on a trial basis until the end of 2025.

The vehicles will traverse Districts 1, 4, 5 and 6.

Saigon Public Transport announced that ticket prices will depend on whether the vehicles run on an hourly basis, or whether they pick up and drop off passengers wherever they wish. A 30-minute ride will cost VND120,000 during the day and VND250,000 at night. For every extra 10 minutes, VND40,000 would be added for day rides and VND80,000 would be added for night rides.

If passengers want the shuttles to pick them up and drop them off at specific locations, ticket prices will be VND60,000 during the day and VND120,000 at night. Any extra destination will mean an extra VND30,000 during the day and VND60,000 at night.

People can order tickets through applications or websites.

Vo Khanh Hung, vice director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, said the electric shuttles would satisfy people's travel demand, especially tourists'.

HCMC has already put three electric bus routes on trial, with tickets costing VND12,000 between District 7’s Phu My Hung area and downtown areas. The southern metropolis has also put into operation an electric bus route connecting Thu Duc City’s Vinhomes Grand Park to District 1.
