Tran Mong Hung, a co-founder of Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) and father of chairman Tran Hung Huy, has passed away on April 25 at the age of 72.

Hung was the chairman of the bank from 1994 to 2008 and a director from 2012 to 2018.

In 2012 he transferred the chairman position to his son Huy who has been holding it ever since.

After 2018 he withdrew from the director post and was the deputy chairman of the bank’s risk management department until 2023.

His wife Dang Thu Huy has also been working at the bank since its establishment and has held several key positions. She has been a director since 2011.

Hung, in his 30-year career at the bank, is known as a visionary leader with respect for the law and efficient management style.

He prioritized precaution and transparency, which helped the bank stood firm in any circumstance and overcame difficult periods.

With a "people first" philosophy, Hung focused on training the next generation of leaders and forming high-quality and loyal teams. This remains the most competitive trait of the bank.

ACB posted a record-high profit of VND20 trillion ($789 million) last year, ranking third among private banks.
