Fireworks light up a corner of the Saigon River that links District 1 with Thu Duc City.
To celebrate the 49th anniversary of the nation’s Reunification Day, city authorities set off fireworks at five locations including a high-altitude display at the Saigon River Tunnel of Thu Duc city.
The rest were at the Thao Dien villa area, Dam Sen cultural park area in District 11, Van Phuc urban area in Thu Duc, and Tay Bac industrial park in Cu Chi District.
Along with the high-altitude fireworks display, there was also a LED light show from advertising panels on the riverbank.
Strong winds cause smoke from fireworks to fly toward the city center.
From 8 p.m., Bach Dang wharf and a riverside park in Thu Duc city were crowded with revelers setting up umbrellas and tarpaulins.

He said that he came to the city to visit his mother and then stayed to watch the fireworks.
“I have seen fireworks before, but this is the first time I have seen them in Ho Chi Minh City. The fireworks here are more majestic and beautiful," he added.
