Three new bridges will be built to create an alternate route southward from Ho Chi Minh City to Long An and Tien Giang provinces in the Mekong Delta.

Crossing the Vam Co Dong, Vam Co Tay and Can Giuoc rivers, all of the bridges will be part of Provincial Road 827E in Long An Province.

The three projects will cost VND4.7 trillion (US$199.2 million), including VND4 trillion in foreign loans. The rest of the investment will be funded by the state budget.

The bridge crossing the Can Giuoc River will run 2.7 km long and 14 m wide.

The other two bridges will be more than 6 km long and 13 m wide each.

Once completed, the three bridges will create a new route to travel from HCMC to Long An and Tien Giang in order to ease traffic on National Highways 1 and 50.
