Vietnam's Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong invited Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping to try three famous types of Vietnamese tea at a tea party in Hanoi on Tuesday.

The Vietnamese leader hosted the tea event following a dialogue with his Chinese counterpart at the Central Party Office in the afternoon.

The Vietnamese leader invited his Chinese counterpart to try three different types of Vietnamese tea.

The first was lotus tea, made from wild ancient shan tuyet white tea planted in Ha Giang and lotuses harvested from Hanoi’s Dam Tri Lake.

The second was aged oolong tea, made from tea plants harvested in Son La.

The third was pre-Qingming wild ancient shan tuyet white tea, harvested in Ha Giang.

The two leaders have in the past enjoyed many famous types of tea originated from Vietnam and China together.

A tea party is a special diplomatic ceremony that demonstrates the close relationship between two countries’ leaders.

In Vietnamese and Chinese cultures, inviting others to enjoy tea is a gesture of respect and hospitality. A tea party is an occasion to share things in a genuine and honest manner.
