Vietnamese mother of 3 killed in knife attack in Singapore

A 34-year-old Vietnamese woman has died in a Singapore hospital after being stabbed by a man at her workplace on Tuesday.

Dao Thi Hong, a mother of three, had moved to Singapore from Hanoi five years ago and was working at the Quan Long Nippon Paint hardware store at Block 210, Hougang Street 21 and she was attacked, according to The Strait Times.

The stabbing occurred around 11 a.m., shocking bystanders. Witnesses reported hearing a woman scream and seeing the suspect, a 42-year-old man, wielding a knife.

A 26-year-old man, reportedly a manager at the store, attempted to intervene and was injured in the process, Channel News Asia reported.

All three were taken to hospital, but Hong succumbed to her injuries.

Her relatives are travelling to Singapore from Vietnam to settle her affairs, The Strait Times reported, citing Vietnamese working in the area.

Police have not disclosed the identity of the suspect, who was reported to be another employee of the store. He is set to be charged with murder on Thursday, an offense punishable by death.
