The 1,235 devices were smashed and dumped into buckets of water and oil in northern Hung Yen Province last Friday to render them completely unusable. The devices’ undocumented trade were from 2022.
"Both the brands and evaluation units said the devices do not satisfy quality standards and can have negative effects on users, such as damaged batteries, being unusable and being broken," said Tran Viet Hung, deputy head of the Directorate.
"All the goods have been disposed of in accordance with procedures," he said, adding that they used excavators, hammers and other means to crush the devices, before dumping them into buckets of water and oil.
