Chinese actress Zhang Yuqi, 37, has caused a stir in the entertainment industry by disclosing her 9-year-younger ex-boyfriend's infidelity and relationships with affluent individuals.

As Zaobao revealed, Zhang's disclosure led to speculation about Yu's relationships, prompting Chinese media to probe into his private life, including alleged relationships with both men and women. His involvement in the scandal affected his professional engagements, including his removal from the CCTV Mid-Autumn Festival Gala lineup.

Sinchew additionally reported that following infidelity allegations, Yu was removed from the lineup of artists set to perform at the CCTV Mid-Autumn Festival Gala on Sept. 16. On Sept. 15, Yu’s management released a statement denying these accusations and announced plans to pursue legal action against slanderous comments aimed at Yu, calling for an end to the spread of baseless rumors.

The controversy has also ensnared other industry figures. Actress Hu Lianxin came under scrutiny for her rumored relationship with Yu, and Ge Xiaoqian, the ex-wife of Zhang’s second husband, accused Zhang of having an affair with her husband during their marriage. Zhang's management has refuted these claims, presenting evidence to support their position.

This series of revelations has damaged Zhang Yuqi's public image, with many calling for a boycott of her work, labeling her lifestyle as unsuitable for a public figure.

Zhang, also known by her stage name Kitty Zhang, gained popularity from her roles in Stephen Chow’s films "CJ7" (2008) and "The Mermaid" (2016), and she has also been featured on the reality show "Sisters Who Make Waves" more recently.

Early in her career, Zhang drew attention for her likeness to South Korean actress Song Hye Kyo. Nonetheless, her career encountered difficulties following a reported disagreement with her mentor, Stephen Chow, which resulted in considerable industry backlash.

Zhang has been involved in multiple romantic relationships and has experienced two divorces; her first marriage was to Chinese director Wang Quanan and her second to businessman Yuan Bayuan.
