Miss Vietnam Mai Phuong Thuy apologizes for live-streaming while intoxicated

Miss Vietnam 2006, Mai Phuong Thuy, has issued an apology for live-streaming while intoxicated, acknowledging that her actions were inappropriate.

On Thursday, Thuy hosted a live session on Facebook where she drank beer, sang along to Taylor Swift's songs, remarking: "I realized that when you're drunk, you don't have to speak or act logically. ...Thank you to the 1,000 people who watched me get drunk today. This has been a wonderful experience for me."

Her live stream sparked reactions from some viewers, who urged her to be more cautious about her public image.

In response, Thuy explained on Friday that after an intense three-hour tennis session, she drank a few beers to unwind but assured her audience that she would be more careful in the future, mindful of the impact she could have on young people.

At 36, Thuy continues to work in fashion and film, having served as a judge in beauty pageants and guest on reality TV shows. She currently resides in Ho Chi Minh City, while her family lives in Hanoi.
