Jung Woo Sung, South Korea's 'Most Coveted Bachelor,' apologizes for scandal involving his lovechild

On Nov. 29, Jung, alongside actor Hwang Jung Min, presented the Audience Award to director Kim Seong Su for the film "12.12: The Day", in which both actors star.

Jung began his speech by introducing himself, which was met with applause from the audience. He then expressed his gratitude and added: "I sincerely thank everyone. I hope my personal issues will not overshadow this film or the efforts of everyone who worked on it."

"I sincerely apologize for causing worry and disappointment to those who have supported and trusted me. I accept all criticism and will learn from this experience. As a father, I am committed to fulfilling my responsibilities to my son to the best of my ability."

This marked Jung’s first public appearance since a controversy broke out about him fathering a child out of wedlock.

On Nov. 24, Dispatch revealed that Jung is the father of an eight-month-old son with 35-year-old model Moon Gabi.

However, MK reported that Jung has been in a relationship with a non-celebrity for over a year, and his girlfriend was shocked to learn about his involvement with Moon.

The controversy drew widespread attention, as Jung has maintained a gentlemanly and sophisticated image throughout his career, almost without scandals.

Jung is a celebrated actor in Asian cinema, known for films like "Beat", "Sad Movie", "Daisy", and "The Good, the Bad, the Weird".

Known as the "Perfect Gentleman," Jung ranked fourth on Entertainment Weekly’s 2020 list of South Korea’s "Most Coveted Bachelors."

Jung's only known public relationship was with actress Lee Ji Ah in 2011, but it ended after details of Lee's past marriage to K-pop icon Seo Taiji became public.

Moon, born in 1989, gained fame as a model and TV personality, appearing on shows like "Attractive TV", "Get It Beauty", and "Law of the Jungle".
