A video shared by Sina on Tuesday showed Chow surrounded by family, friends, and pets. In the clip, he broke off a piece of cake for his pet, jokingly advising: "You shouldn’t eat sweets, just a little bit."
After cuddling the pet, Chow and Tan cut the cake adorned with the Chinese character for longevity. At his age, Chow chooses not to dye his gray hair and sports a sun-kissed complexion from frequent outdoor activities.
Chow’s journey to stardom began humbly. Before launching his career with Hong Kong broadcaster TVB in 1974, he worked various jobs, including shoeshine boy, office assistant, parcel delivery worker, hotel staff, and taxi driver.
He rose to fame through TVB dramas such as "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" and "The Bund." Over his extensive career, Chow has won numerous awards, including three Hong Kong Film Awards and two Golden Horse Awards for Best Actor.
In 2023, he was named Asian Filmmaker of the Year at the 28th Busan International Film Festival, becoming the second Hong Kong actor after Tony Leung to receive this prestigious honor.
According to the South China Morning Post, Chow and Tan married in 1987. The couple remains childless after losing their daughter in 1991 due to a nuchal cord complication during pregnancy. Chow decided not to pursue further attempts to avoid additional health risks for his wife.
