A beachfront bar in Nha Trang was shut down after staff were filmed threatening foreign tourists with a shovel and other objects during a late-night dispute.

Local authorities said on Jan. 6 that an inspection following the incident found the bar on Tran Phu Street was operating without a valid license to provide food and beverage services. The venue was immediately shut down, while officials investigate the employees’ alleged threatening behavior.

The incident occurred on the evening of Dec. 31, 2025, when a dispute broke out between bar staff and a group of customers. Videos circulating online show one employee running toward the guests while holding a shovel, while another brandished a plastic chair.

One tourist fled the scene as bystanders looked on in alarm. The confrontation took place in a busy area with heavy foot traffic.

A representative of the bar said the business had apologized to the affected tourists and disciplined the staff members involved.

Nha Trang is one of Vietnam’s most popular beach destinations, known for its clear waters, long beaches, and mild climate. In 2025, the city welcomed an estimated 14.8 million overnight visitors, including about 4.6 million international tourists, with total tourism revenue exceeding VND60.3 trillion ($2.3 billion).
