Actress Angelababy faces backlash for attending son’s school event in ‘sleepwear-like’ outfit

According to Sinchew, she appeared in a lavender camisole dress at the event on May 30, styling her long hair loose and accessorizing with sparkling jewelry on her left cheek.

Critics online have criticized the attire, with one noting: "Her outfit looks like sleepwear."

Another remarked on the inappropriateness of the sleeveless dress in the presence of male parents, stating: "In front of male parents, such a sleeveless dress is inappropriate."

Despite the criticism, others have defended her appearance, describing Angelababy as "stunningly beautiful" and noting that she carried a glamorous aura even from afar.

Angelababy, born Yang Ying, is a 35-year-old actress, model, businesswoman, investor, and singer. She began her entertainment career in 2007 and has since risen to prominence as one of China’s leading actresses.

Her son, whom she shares with her ex-husband Huang Xiaoming, is a student at the Shanghai High School International Division. This school, which caters primarily to children of expatriates in Shanghai, charges an annual tuition fee of 150,000 yuan (US$20,000). Admittance requires passing tests in Chinese, mathematics, and English.

Angelababy and Huang went public with their relationship in 2014, married in 2015, and welcomed their son in 2017. They announced their divorce in 2022, and their son, nicknamed Little Sponge, currently resides with the actress.
