Citing Taiwan-based TVBS, Global Times reported that Wang allegedly booked a ride to Taoyuan International Airport shortly after arriving at the airport in April 2024. However, upon seeing the assigned vehicle, Wang became enraged, criticizing it as "too poor."
This led to a violent confrontation in which Wang allegedly expressed his dissatisfaction to his friend, a 32-year-old man surnamed You. Per Taipei Times, police reports suggest that Wang then instructed You to assault the driver, who was reportedly severely beaten. Authorities have recommended charges of attempted murder in connection with the incident.
The case came to light during the investigation into Wang’s military duty evasion, for which he was arrested on Feb. 18. While examining his phone in connection with the military-related case, investigators reportedly uncovered evidence linking Wang to the violent incident.
Wang’s manager has since stated that they are "in the midst of understanding" the details of the situation.
When Wang was detained on Feb. 18, he was also charged with allegedly forging documents to evade enlistment.
ETtoday reports that he has been ordered to enlist for military service on March 13.
Born Wang Talu, the 34-year-old actor began his acting career in the 2008 drama series "Mysterious Incredible Terminator" and made his big-screen debut in the 2010 film "In Case of Love." He gained widespread recognition for his role in the 2015 hit film "Our Times" and was subsequently named GQ’s Man of the Year.
