The Islamic State has threatened to carry out terrorist attacks at Champions League quarterfinal games this week.

The image of a terrorist with an AK-47 standing next to four stadiums hosting the games, with a message that says "Kill Them All", has gone viral on social media, Spanish newspaper Marca reported.

The quarterfinals will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday night at the Emirates in England, Parc des Princes in France, and the Metropolitano and Santiago Bernabeu in Spain.

According to AS, the Spanish government has activated security procedures for the two Champions League games there. It's believed more than 3,000 security staff have been assigned to the games in Spain, Real Madrid vs Manchester City and Atletico Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund.

The two other games are Arsenal vs Bayern Munich and PSG vs Barcelona.

It is also believed over 8,000 Man City and Dortmund fans will travel to Spain for the games due on Tuesday and Wednesday night.

The threat came shortly after Islamic State-affiliated outlet Sarh Al-Khilafah announced a plan to attack fans who were at Allianz Arena in Munich to watch the game between Bayern and Dortmund.

On March 22, Khorasan, a branch of Islamic State in Afghanistan, claimed responsibility for carrying out a terrorist attack at a theater in Moscow, killing 144 people.
