Queen of Vietnamese bolero music Le Quyen has expressed her disappointment in fans who had requested to take photos with her only to later share unflattering images of her on social media platforms.

The photos were taken without the use of beauty filter applications, which accentuated some imperfections on her face.

Quyen tends to enjoy capturing moments with her fans, considering them intimate interactions. However, she experienced some dismay upon learning that unattractive photos of her had been circulated online.

The 43-year-old singer clarified that these photos were taken after her performance at a tea lounge the previous week. She said that while she wouldn’t have been so upset if they were posted by a total stranger, it stung more knowing they came from one of her fans who had attended her show.

"My fans patiently waited until the performance ended to greet me. They gave me big smiles and hugged me tightly while expressing their affection. Then they asked to take photos with me to keep as memories, but ended up choosing unflattering photos to share online," the singer confessed. "I feel rather sad, bewildered, and disappointed."

Quyen discovered the online post criticizing her look when she had just completed her first show in March in the U.S. On her personal social media handle, the singer shared a selfie taken without any beauty filter and wrote: "Everyone knows who I am and how I look. I meet my audiences in real life every day, so there’s no hiding."

Previously, other photos of Quyen and audience members taken without the use of beauty filter apps at a tea lounge in Ho Chi Minh City sparked discussions on social media. Numerous comments criticized the singer's appearance, claiming that her actual looks greatly differed from her online images.

Born in 1981, Le Quyen is the youngest of four siblings from a family with a rich artistic background, with both parents being "chèo" artists, a form of Vietnamese opera from the North.
In 2004, she released the album "Giac Mo Co That" (Dream Comes True) featuring numerous hit songs such as "Hay Tra Loi Em" (Answer Me), "Thoi Dung Chiem Bao" (Forget About Dreaming), and more.

In 2009, she relocated to Ho Chi Minh City to further her singing career, focusing on classic genres. Since 2010, the singer has released a series of music albums titled "Khuc Tinh Xua" (Bygone Love). In 2019, Le Quyen hosted a live show - "Q Show 2" - to commemorate her 20-year singing career. In 2021, she performed the live show "Le Quyen ft. The Lover."

After her divorce from businessman Duc Huy, Quyen began dating actor Lam Bao Chau. The couple currently resides together in Ho Chi Minh City, frequently sharing photos on their social media pages and appearing together at events.
