HCMC to open new food street next month

Nguyen Thi Be Ngoan, vice chair of the district People’s Committee, announced that the new nightlife zone will span 2.6 hectares and include 222 businesses in food, wellness, commerce, and accommodation.

The area will undergo comprehensive upgrades, featuring new infrastructure and amenities such as a logo, a gate, free Wi-Fi, and QR code advertisements.

The zone is expected to operate daily from 6 p.m. to midnight, offering a wide range of entertainment, health care, and nighttime shopping activities.

Its central area will include Nguyen Van Linh, Pham Van Nghi, No. 2, and Bui Bang Doan streets.

According to the approved planning, the Sky Garden food street will not receive state funding and will not be pedestrian-only, allowing for normal traffic circulation.

District 7 also plans to develop two additional nightlife attractions: a 9,000-square-meter pedestrian-only food street at Crescent Lake – Starlight Bridge in Tan Phu Ward, and another at the Ngan Hang residential area and Street 11N in Tan Thuan Tay Ward.

Covering an area of 35.69 square kilometers in southern HCMC, District 7 is home to over 24,000 businesses and is known for the Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone and the Phu My Hung urban area.

The Sky Garden nightlife zone is part of HCMC’s broader initiative to enhance its nighttime economy.

The city currently has nine night street zones, including the Bui Vien and Nguyen Hue pedestrian-only streets in District 1, with plans to open 22 more by 2025.

Recently, a new night street began operations in Can Gio District, and plans for additional ones have been proposed for Binh Chanh and Binh Tan districts.
