The Hindustan Times reports this represents nearly a 0.12% share in the family-run conglomerate, which encompasses a range of sectors such as energy, petrochemicals, natural gas, retail, telecommunications, mass media, entertainment, and textiles.
Moreover, all three heirs hold significant roles within the business.
According to People Magazine, Mukesh’s eldest son Akash, 33, serves as the current chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, the telecom division of the conglomerate. Having played a pivotal role in advancing India’s digital frontier, concentrating on cutting-edge technologies like 5G, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things, he aims to revolutionize key sectors including commerce, education, and healthcare in the country.
Akash’s twin sister Isha, 33, occupies board roles in various sectors of Reliance Industries including retail, telecommunications, financial services, philanthropy, and education.
The billionaire’s youngest child Anant, 28, is actively involved in Reliance’s new energy ventures, focusing particularly on green energy development and projects for the societal benefit.
Kokilaben Ambani, Mukesh’s mother, is the largest shareholder in Reliance Industries. Despite her non-involvement in day-to-day operations of the conglomerate, she owns 1,57,41,322 shares, equating to a 0.24% stake in the company.
As of March 18, 2024, Forbes estimated that Mukesh Ambani, 67, is the richest individual in Asia and the tenth-richest globally, with a net worth of US$114 billion.
Born in Yemen, Mukesh took over the leadership of Reliance Industries from his father Dhirubhai Ambani after the latter’s passing in 2002, according to Business Insider India.
