High and low-altitude fireworks lit up the sky over the Saigon River, near Ba Son Bridge on Wednesday night.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City launched fireworks displays at 30 locations—its largest number ever— to celebrate the national reunification.

Thousands of people gather to watch the fireworks at the Tran Hung Dao Monument near Me Linh Roundabout in District 1.
Tran Hung Dao was a Vietnamese royal prince, statesman and military commander who commanded the Vietnamese armies that repelled two out of three major Mongol invasions in the late 13th century. The victories are considered among the greatest military feats in Vietnamese history.

"This year, the fireworks were set off at many more locations than before. It was definitely worth watching," Ha said.
Low-altitude fireworks illuminate a barge on the Saigon River, as seen from District 4.
The locations for the 28 low-altitude pyrotechnics include the Independence Palace and Ba Son Bridge in District 1, Thanh Da Peninsula and Landmark 81 Park in Binh Thanh District, Thao Dien Ward in Thu Duc City, and Tan Thuan Bridge in District 4.
