SEA Games: Vietnam defeat Thailand to win gold medal

Vietnam successfully defended the SEA Games men's football gold medal after beating Thailand 1-0 in the final on Sunday night.

Vietnam entered the SEA Games final with four wins, one draw and didn't concede a single goal, while Thailand got four wins and one loss. Both team had to play extra time in the semifinals to beat their opponents with the same score, 1-0.

After 12 encounters in the previous SEA Games events, Vietnam haven't won against Thailand once. They lost eight and drew four games. Tonight is the chance for Vietnam to change that.

Thailand have won 16 SEA Games football gold while Vietnam have only got one in 2019.
