Morning rain causes traffic jams across Hanoi

Despite no major flooding being reported, scattered showers of 10–20 mm across inner districts led to slow-moving traffic on key routes including Nguyen Trai, Vo Chi Cong, Hoang Quoc Viet, Ho Tung Mau, and Road 70.

Several major intersections and overpasses, such as Mai Dich Interchange and Kim Ma Street, experienced severe congestion, worsened by narrow roads, construction barriers, and the high volume of vehicles.

Motorcyclists threaded between cars while commuters in cars and on buses inched forward in the rain, sometimes taking over an hour to cover short distances.

Authorities had drainage teams on standby to operate sluice gates and pumping stations if necessary, while traffic police were deployed to direct vehicles and ease bottlenecks.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warned of continuing rain and thunderstorms through Wednesday, with potential heavy rainfall in some areas.
