Vietnam started their second game of SEA Games 31 strong as they pushed forward and quickly dominated the Philippines.
Nham Manh Dung and Huynh Cong Den had two great chances each to score but their shot lacked accuracy. The hosts also got two freekicks close to the box but Le Van Do couldn’t convert them both.
The first half ended with no goals scored.
In the second half, coach Park Hang-seo made some adjustments to the team and Vietnam were able to keep the pressure on for the first 10 minutes.
From the 60th minute, the stamina of Vietnam players started running low, while the Philippines created a thick defense in front of the goal with the intention to get a draw.
Forward Nguyen Tien Linh had a few great chances to break the tie, but his aim was not good enough.
The final result was 0-0 and Vietnam stayed second in group A, behind the Philippines. Both have four points after two games but the Philippines have scored four goals compared to Vietnam's three.
