Local police revealed that a total of six items, including bath towels and tote bags, were found in Bai’s belongings, prompting suspicion that she attempted to steal them from the store on Nov. 6, reported The Straits Times.

The total value of the items was about 10,500 yen (US$69).

Bai denied the accusations, claiming that she "intended to pay for them later."

She was also reportedly accused of biting the arm of a 51-year-old mall security guard who tried to stop her stealing.

It has been reported that Bai could be kept in detention for up to 23 days for investigation, as ruled by the Japanese law, according to news site Must Share News.
