People in the Malaysian state of Negeri Sembilan are seething after seeing a durian farm owner chained a dog behind his car and dragged it through the street.

"The dog’s paws were bleeding and it had collapsed," said Rajes Donarow, a poultry farmer who reportedly chased the car on his motorbike and rescued the dog on May 27.

"The gravel was also scraping its chest while the man continued driving," the Strait Times quoted him as saying.

According to Donarow, when he saw the man, who he recognized as a durian plantation and landscape business owner from the same neighborhood, he chased him on his motorbike.

He signaled the driver to stop the car but the man ignored him.

Passers-by then surrounded the man and his injured dog while Donarow called the police.

The dog owner said that he was taking the dog to a plantation two kilometers away and it resisted getting into his car. However, as Donarow noted, the dog immediately jumped into the car after being unchained.

Both Donarow and the dog owner made reports on the case to local police when they arrived. Donarow said that he was also asked to report the case to the Department of Veterinary Services.
