Vietnamese carriers selling tickets before Tet travel rush

On official websites of domestic carriers, air tickets for flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, Da Nang, Vinh, Thanh Hoa, Hai Phong, Chu Lai, Nha Trang between February 1 and 15 for Tet holiday are available with a variety of price ranges.

Ten days before the holiday, round-trip tickets on the Hanoi-HCMC route cost VND1.9 million per person, down from last year's VND2-2.1 million.

Round-trip tickets for those departing on February 6, three days before Lunar New Year's Eve, and returning on February 14, the fifth day of the lunar new year, range from VND6.9 to 7 million per person, down from last year's VND7-7.4 million.

For routes from HCMC to Thanh Hoa and Vinh in north central Vietnam, round-trip tickets for seven days before Tet cost about VND4-5 million while peak days close to Tet cost VND6.9-7.1 million.

For flights from HCMC to Da Nang, Chu Lai and Hue, round-trip tickets for the peak days leading up to Tet cost VND4.3-5 million, a decrease of 5% compared to the same period last year.

International flights to Vietnam during the Lunar New Year have also been opened for sale with prices ranging from VND1.7 to 6 million for routes from Thailand to HCMC and Hanoi.

For routes from Taichung/Taipei/South Korea/Japan to HCMC and Hanoi, round trip tickets range from VND9 to 15 million.

Vietnam Airlines and its subsidiaries, Pacific Airlines and Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO), plan to operate 15,000 flights, or 3 million seats on domestic and international routes between January 25 and February 24.

Vietjet Air plans to supply 2.5 million air tickets while Bamboo Airways and Vietravel Airlines would provide 700,000 to 1 million seats during the upcoming Tet holiday.

Tet, with the upcoming edition peaking on February 10, 2024, often sees millions of migrant workers from major cities and industrial hubs return to their homes for family reunions or holiday-goers flock to tourist hotspots.
